| COLONIAL GUANAJUATO (5)The last time I was in Guanajuato I visited an outstanding attraction which is listed in very few of the guide books...the Ex-Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera. I was with a group of students from my school, and in Guanajuato our tour bus broke down. We had an afternoon to kill while we waited for the tour company to send another tour bus from Mexico City. Our hotel was on the outskirts of Guanajuato. Next door to the hotel were the beautifully restored gardens and mansion of an old hacienda (country estate). It turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip! I guess it's true that every cloud has a silver lining! |
