Cleveland has come a long way since the days when it was the brunt of jokes. In fact, since the opening of the Rock Hall of Fame, it has become something of a tourist destination.
But there is a lot more to see in Cleveland besides the Rock Hall of Fame...
The University Circle area, to the east of downtown, has one of the highest concentrations of cultural institutions anywhere in the world. Besides institutions of higher learning such as Case Western Reserve University, here you will find many of the city's museums... the Cleveland Natural History Museum, the Western Reserve Historical Society, and, first and foremost, the Cleveland Museum of Art. Our art museum is the finest between New York and Chicago. Its collections are quite comprehensive, including works from ancient Egypt to the 20th century.
Also located in University Circle is Severance Hall, the home of the Cleveland Orchestra.
It is not a case of exaggerated hometown pride when I say that we have THE best symphony orchestra in the nation and one of the best in the entire world!
At Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland, three old movie houses have been magnificently restored. Here you will see Broadway shows, the Cleveland Opera, and other stage productions. The interconnected theatres constitute one of the largest performing arts complexes in the country, second only to the Lincoln Center in New York.
Some pictures of Cleveland taken from a cruise aboard the GOODTIME
The Goodtime III offers a unique view of the city on its cruises that sail along the Cuyahoga River and along the shore of Lake Erie.

The Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame on Cleveland's waterfront
From the lake we see the new Cleveland Browns Stadium.
The boat enters the Cuyahoga River. Downtown Cleveland is built on a bluff above the Cuyahoga. The lowlands along the river are known as the Flats. This was the heart of Cleveland's industry. Today, however, the portion of the Flats by the river's mouth is an entertainment district filled with restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, most with terraces overlooking the river. Boaters can moor their boats at their favorite nightspot.
