Using Geocities' templates seems like a time-saving device, so I'm giving it a try for some of the many photos I've accumulated for this web site. I've some pictures from our UK trip in September, 2000. What a great time we had! We flew from Houston to London, spent one night in London, then headed to Portmeirion in North Wales via a rented auto driven by my stalwart son, Fred. Along the way we stopped in Stratford-Upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare's birthplace. Stratford is a picturesque town with flowerboxes in almost every window and hanging baskets on the lamposts. Most colorful! Getting on into Wales, the countryside grew more spectacular and the roads became narrower. Fields of lush green were dotted with the bright white of sheep. Occasionally a large manor could be spotted in the distance...perhaps a "stately home?" Portmeirion at last. The setting for the TV series, "The Prisoner." A fascinating and beautiful little village set on a hill along the estuary. I want to live here! |
