The Rio Manatee Excursion
(From Cancun or Isla Mujeres)

Originally explored for fly fishing by yours truly:

Immediately accessible from and just north of Cancun lies the largest expanse of wilderness on the whole of the Yucatán Peninsula. Saltwater flats, mangrove roots, and underground freshwater streams, bubbling into the saline lagoons and channels, crib small fry for foraging permit, tarpon, snook, (only occasional) bone and, of course, serious fly fishermen.
From hotels* in Cancun's Beach Zone or D'Town, or Isla Mujeres, excursions into the area are professionally guided by the area's leading flyfisher (20 years of local experience): Captain Ricardo Gaitan. Non-anglers can enjoy great birding on board, or accompanying launches.

Rates Include: Box-lunch, refreshments and 2 beers (Max), full-day of guided fishing including boat transport to and at fishing grounds and bait. Guests from Cancún rendezvous at the Pier of Puerto Juarez. Guests from Isla Mujeres rendezvous at the Pier of the Fishermen's Cooperative.

Rates Exclude: All fishing gear, tackle and flies.

The Overnighter to Isla Holbox
(From Cancun or Isla Mujeres)

Virgin flatfishing waters await the venturous at this fisherman's isle of fisherfolk. Overnight accommodations can be rustic within a fishermen's home, or (at your additional expense) hotel.

Rates Include: Round trip ground transport from Cancun to 'Isla Holbox', breakfast each fishing day, box-lunch, refreshments and 2 beers (Max) aboard launches, full-day of guided fishing, with Captain Ricardo Gaitan, including boat transportation to and at fishing grounds; plus bait.

Rates Exclude: All fishing gear, tackle and flies.

Deposits: a 50% deposit, per flyfisher is required to confirm reservations, due within 14 days of day reserved. Make cashier's check payable to Venture-Out.
