Me and Scott Baxter headed out of Canada on January 2nd, 1998, on the way to Australia for our exchange program. We stopped down in Malaysia for a few days to do a bit of touristing in Kuala Lumpur. Here's a view of Kuala Lumpur as seen from the top of the KL tower. You can see fog enshrouded hills in the distance. We moved into a hostel in KL's Chinatown, and spent two fun filled nights there. It was actually a decent enough place. Really cheap (but then everything was cheap) and not too dirty. The shower and toilet were right on top of one another, but then these things happen, don't they.... |

On Day #2 me and Scotty walked all over the place checking things out. We saw a couple of interesting mosques and temples, and went to the Hibiscus Gardens and the Bird Sanctuary. We took in lunch in the bird sanctuary, and had a rather large and certainly very interesting bird visit us. He seemed enamored by our empty coke can and spent a while trying to pick it up in his beak! We tried to visit the parliament buildings afterwards but were turned away. We visited the KL tower on our 3rd day. We'd checked out of the hostel so we were carrying our big back packs. It was quite a workout! |
