Me and Scott Baxter made it into Sydney on the 7th of January '98, where we met up with John Wilson and Craig Turner . A couple of days later the four of us set off on our...
Our first stop on the way up the coast to Cairns saw the four of us with a whole load of other party animals at a sheep farm! Here I am having a go at shearing one. Notice how careful I'm being. Craig didn't seem to think that the sheep needed all of it's skin, and took it upon himself to remove some. But that's another story... |
Here are Vicki, Esther, and Scott on the hike we took through Noosa National Park. It was a great hike, although by the end we were wishing we'd brought food and more water. I think Esther was also wishing she'd worn more than flip-flops! |
The next, and definitely one of the most ultimate experiences of the trip, was Fraser Island! Us four guys rented a 4WD Land Cruiser with Vicki, Esther, Jean, and Shera (the last two being a couple of cute Canadian girls we ran into in Byron Bay). We then took the ferry out of Hervey Bay, for three fun filled days of exploration and excitement on the worlds largest sand island. Here's a photo of Shera sitting on Indian Head overlooking the ocean. Indian Head was one of Fraser's few rocky outcroppings. |
Here we all are walking away from Lake Wabby, a lake on Fraser Island that is slowly disappearing thanks to an encroaching sand blow. We spent a while here hurling ourselves down the steep sand-bank at the lake's side into the deep water! |
Here's the bunch of us on one of the sandy inland tracks on Fraser with the Land Cruiser which was so good to us for three days! Other unphotographed highlights from Fraser Island were the 'highway' (aka 'the beach'), Craig's $50 ticket for not wearing a seatbelt on the beach, our race against high tide, getting stuck in the sand, and a number of things that can't be posted on the net! |
This is Me, Craig, and two other fellow tourist with the three aboriginal fellows who assisted us in making our didjeridus. We spent the day working on them at a place about an hours drive away from the Namoi Hills Cattle Station near Dingo where we were staying for a few days. A most awsome experience! I then spent the next couple of days figuring out how to circular breath. |
