Congratulations on your great Soccer web site. Our company, www.allwall.com, the largest poster and print store on the Internet, would like to advertise our Soccer posters on your web site:

http://www.ultisoft.demon.co.uk/football.html

KryssTal Reply: Well I tried - but your site asked me for a State and I don't have one since I live in the UK. I could not get past this field unless I put something in. This assumption that all countries have states is a little odd. After all this is a WORLD wide web so the assumption must be that your readers may be from any one of 200 countries. I have a web page about this topic:

DAVIDMRTMO@aol.com

can you list the scorers of the 80's finals

KryssTal Reply: Sorry but I tend to list stats by club rather than individuals. there is an FA Cup site somewhere that has this try searching on "FA Cup"

Hi Kryss,

I am doing research on association football history. Blackpool won a famous FA Cup victory in 1953 with a lot of help from Matthews. Who was the coach of that team? Thanks for any help you can provide.

KryssTal Reply: No idea I'm afraid. Try a search on Blackpool FC, there may be a club site.

In my last email I asked a Blackpool question only to find you are an Arsenal supporter. Here's an Arsenal question. Who were the midfielders and goalie for the league winning Arsenal team of 1930-31 that scored a record 127 goals and 66 points?

I'm doing historical research on another of teams as I design sports games as a non profit hobbie. Thanx for you previous response and any help you can provide.

KryssTal Reply: Sorry about the delay in responding - house hunting!

The 1931 Arsenal team was the first team from the south of England to win the championship. Their 66 points was a record until broken by Leeds in 1969. Their away points total (33) and away goals (60) were also records.

The stars of that side were Alex James, Cliff Bastin, Jack Lambert, David Jack and Joe Hulme.

I hope this helps.

On your website your have stated that winners of all 3 European Competitions are listed in blue. You have listed in blue Ajax & Bayern Munich, which are correct. However there are 4 teams who have achieved victory in all 3 European competitions. The 2 you have omitted are Juventus and Barcelona.

KryssTal Reply: I have listed Juventus and Barcelona under the European Cup since they became triple winners when they won that trophy. Look on:

Thank in advance

KryssTal Reply: It was at The Oval. Wanderers beat Royal Engineers 1 - 0.

Hi Kryss

I was wondering if you could help me, I am looking for the winners of the FA Youth Cup this season

KryssTal Reply: No idea I'm afraid. Try searching for the Football Association's web page.

Loved the pages, excellent.

I have two suggestions which may or may not be useful but I found myself doing it whilst browsing your pages.

1. Under the European Trophies info an extra table showing how the top euro countries compare over all trophies would be interetsing.

2. A second idea was to add an extra column to the `Running total of trophies' page that showed how many trophies in total each team has and a colour code for the top three.

Keep up the good work.

KryssTal Reply: Looks good - I'm always looking to add more. I'll work on it.

Great site, how about the same sort of stats for the world cup ?

KryssTal Reply: Not a bad idea - I'm busy updating my borrowed words site at present but I'll soon get around to it.

Greetings from Santa Barbara California

I am looking for the Manchester team photo from 1968 european cup and was wondering if you could help.

Thanks in advance

KryssTal Reply: There are two clubs in Manchester: Manchester City (who won the Championship in 1968) and Manchester United (who won the European Cup in 1968). Try the Manchester United web page or search for "Manchester United" on the net.

Good luck.

Kryss,

Found your address on the fa cup website, wonder if you can help with the following question I've been given as part of a charity quiz.

Q88 DO NOT THINK ITS EVER BEEN BEATEN AS A RECORD. BACK IN THE 1920'S, WHO APPEARED IN A FA CUP SEMI-FINAL (AS A PLAYER) WHEN HE WAS JUST 4 MONTHS SHORT OF HIS 50TH BIRTHDAY?

KryssTal Reply: I'd love to help but unfortunately my knowledge and interest is about clubs rather than players.

hi everyone,

I'm a telecom mobile engineer, and i realy enjoyed your site with all your statitistics and explainations. bravo !

what i wanted to know is if you had the same sort of site for european football leagues, i.e french, italian, spanish and german, and if you don't any links where i would find previous winners of cups and championships.

KryssTal Reply: Thanks for the comments. I have been thinking of extending the site for Europe but at the moment I'm too busy. You could try some of the links on my page or do a search for each country you need info for.

Hi,

Some interesting statistics on your site. I have loads of stats, but only some of it is on my webpage. Need to find the time to put the rest on.

By the way, do you know a site which has all the FA Cup results since 1872? At least from the quarterfinal stages. Searching the web has proved fruitless. Thanks.

Just because I'm a sad git with nothing better to do, I have been looking for a simple list of all League clubs with their ground names (past and present). As yet I haven't found anything of this nature. Just a suggestion if you want to expand your site.

Very good site by the way. It's a pity Bristol City aren't mentioned anywhere... but soon we shall be!! Cheers.

KryssTal Reply: Thank you - I remember the two matches they played in the old First Division with my club (I went to both):

Arsenal 0 Bristol City 1
Bristol City 0 Arsenal 2

It's a good idea but one I have no research on at present. I'll see what I can do.

Please do you know which was the first club to win the FA Cup with only 10 men?

Thanks for the info, I think that maybe it could be added to the list of FA Cup firsts.

KryssTal Reply: All I know is that Nottingham Forest (1959 - injury) and Manchester United (1985 - sending off) both won the FA Cup with 10 men. I don't know who was the first. Not that many players were sent off in a FA Cup final so 1959 could well be the first.

Dear Kryss

My compliments on a very interesting web site.

You've asked for corrections: I believe Arsenal were elected to the 1st Division in 1919, not 1921 as stated. and you may like to update the number of years Arsenal have spent in the top flight.

I notice that you have rather limited links for Arsenal pages, and have only included the official page and 2 media pages. perhaps you'd like to consider adding some of the unofficial sites, which like yours I have found to be excellent, and in some ways better than the official or media-run sites.

KryssTal Reply: Thanks for the info.

The reson for my lack of links is because I was thinking of joining an Arsenal Web Ring to allow access to other Arsenal sites. As yet the ring organiser hasn't got it going properly.

Thank you for your football site.

I am trying to find information about Trevor Ford.  When I was a mere lad I remember that he was suspended sine die, but I never understood why.  Something to do with transfers, I recall.  I also remember a television report of his return to football ('He didn't score a goal, but he made one'), but am now intrigued to know what the suspension was about.

Do you have any information?

KryssTal Reply: No sorry - I'm only really interested in the clubs rather than individuals. Try some of the links on my pages or do a search on INFOSEEK.

I think that if you score a goal in stopage time the referee should bring it to the Football Assoation and they should look at it or if there is a brawl the Footbal Assoations should look at it aswell. I think that the lower clubs like the Barnslys Charltons and the Wimblendons of this world playing against the likes of Liverpool Arsenil and Man United. I think that there are to many foreigners in the game and the youngsters will have no chance to get on the first team so they will give up and never play again.

Peter Ruth

pruth19@excite.com

You have my team listed as never winning the FA Cup - they won it in 1914!

KryssTal Reply: So sorry - I've made the correction. I wish they had won it in 1962!

I remember Burnley as being David O'Leary's debut for Arsenal when he was 16 in a 0 - 0 draw back in 1975 or 1976.

Hey thanks. Actually Burnley is my Dad's team - I was born in Salford and I guess I could claim Man U as my team but everyone over here in the States supports Man U because they win so much - I like to support the underdog.

KryssTal Reply: Man U split people here - they either love them or hate them. [I can't say I'm keen on them!]

What's your prediction for the two [2000] FA Cup semi's. I have to go with Chelsea 'cos I once lived near Earls Court and watched many a Chelsea game. When they were away I went to see Fulham. For the other semi, I have to go with Newcastle as we have a youth club named after them.

KryssTal Reply: Chelsea play Newcastle in one of the semis. I work with a Newcastle supporter so I'm going with them but I don't really mind.

The other semi is 1st division Bolton verses Aston Villa. Bolton played in the first Wembley final in 1923. This year's final will be the last at Wembley until it is rebuilt. Lots of people are going for Bolton for that. My boss supports Villa so, publicly, I have to go along with that!

I think you've done a great job with your site. I have it as one of my favorites. It will certainly get my history of the game back on track.

KryssTal Reply: Thank you - you're very kind.

* * * * * * * *

Don't know how I could have Chelsea AND Newcastle. I guess I'll go with Bolton too as they are just down the road from Burnley - At least it is a Lancashire team. When I lived in London I guess I only went to Wembley maybe two times at the most. Can't even remember who England played - I guess it wasn't too memorable. Where are you from?

KryssTal Reply: Born and live in Highbury in London - Greek parents.

Highbury? - A real live gunner. Interesting heritage - my dad was in the RAF and I spent six years in Cyprus. On our first tour, we stayed outside the base and our landlords were Greek. They had six girls and one son. I became close friends with Panachios (spelling?) until they sent him to Greece to get a REAL education. I went back there years later and it was amazing how everything had changed. Panachios stayed in Greece, never did see him again - you ever visit relatives in Greece?

KryssTal Reply: Most of my relatives are in England or Cyprus - very few in Greece.

Yes, I'm a real live Gooner. If I'm at home and they score, I can hear the cheering. Is there much footie where you are? - it's not so popular in North America, I hear.

Actually, I have been coaching youth soccer for about 10 years. Soccer is huge with the kids over here - you can log on to

www.minnyouthsoccer.org/

for my state organization and they have links to the USYSA. As you may know the USA Women won the World Cup twice now and the men continue to improve although recently they caught the english disease of not being able to beat a team in a shoot out (Columbia beat USA in a shoot out 2-1 - what a disgrace!)

I lived in Limassol - where do your relatives live?

KryssTal Reply: North of Limassol.

Dear Kryss,

I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions for me.

Which are the teams that play in the UEFA cup?
Which are the teams that play in the Championship league? (Is it also called UEFA championship league?)
Which teams play in the Cup Winners Cup?
Which teams play in the European Cup?
What are the different club championships in England?

KryssTal Reply: Hello there

Sorry about the delay in replying.

Each country has a UEFA Cup allowance of teams. For England the teams that win the FA Cup and League (Worthington) Cup qualify for the UEFA Cup. In addition the team that finishes in fourth place in the League. The team that finished third may also qualify if they fail to get into the Champions League. A team winning the UEFA Cup will defend it. Teams finishing third in the first group stages of the Champions league go into the UEFA Cup.

For the Champions League: in England it is the teams which finish first and second in the League. The third team gets a chance to qualify in a play-off. If they fail they go into the UEFA Cup. The European Cup is the old name for the Champions League.

The Cup Winners Cup no longer operates. It used to be the winners of the FA Cup, or the runners up if the winners also won the League.

There is only one club championship in England. The winners of the Premiership are considered champions of England. There are four professional divisions.

Hope this clears things up.

This is a question that has been e-mailed about 100 times but so far no-one has found out the answer.

Once you have done it, you cannot do it again. Villa did it at the first attempt, Manchester United in 1992, Chelsea in 1970, other clubs include Spurs,Wolves and Manchester City. Leeds haven't done it, neither have West Ham or Newcastle. Nobody can do it this season (1999 - 2000)

By the way your site is an excellent statto's dream
