Please note under the caption for Parsees, you have descendents of fire worshipers of Persia (Zoarastrianism). Zoarastrians have never been fire worshipers, as a matter of fact Zoarastrianism was the first monothiestic religion on the face of the earth from which all other modern religions have evolved. Please make that correction.

KryssTal Reply: Thank you - perhaps I should specify that Parsees worship fire as a symbol of god.

Your first 2 are WEAK Genesis 1 is the account of creation Genesis 2 is the account of creation in the garden of Eden so Adam could see God working and name the animals, check it out

noah brought 2 kinds of every animal and 7 of every animal for SACRIFICES!

Read it

The first condriction on your page is not such.....

Read Genesis 3:19 again, (I'm quoting NIV)

"Now God HAD formed out of the grond all the beasts..."

It's clear that he had already created them, and was now merely bring them before Adam.

The second condriction....

This is all part of the same passage. It's clear that God was continuing his instruction and clarifying it.

The third...

Exodus 20:13 is correctly translated "You shall not murder". This is VERY clearly different than killing as described Exodus 32:27. The difference between murder and killing is wide accepted by Biblical and Secular Scholars alike.

KryssTal Reply: There are actually two documents that make up the creation story in Genesis. The writer has tried to form them into a single narrative, hence these contradictions.

I'll continue later...But I seriously suggest you do a deeper study of the Word before you start ranting off contridiations. I mean, in your first contridiction you actually mis-quote the Bible.

KryssTal Reply: I am not ranting but you sound as if you are. I suspect the Bible is something you want to be true.

I do this not to put you down, but rather to lift you up. It's clear to me that you may have been lead astray.

KryssTal Reply: Thank you for patronising me. Nobody leads me astray (at least not often).

I challange you to seek and look at the source before blindly post a web site to mislead others.

KryssTal Reply: The source has been studied for many years. Do you have an explanation for the Jesus lineage in Mathiew and Luke?

I'd like to know how you figure that the Orthodoxees were the original Christians.

KryssTal Reply: Christianity, when it first began, was much like the present Greek Orthodox form in liturgy and language. The New and Old Testaments were both in Koene, a type of Greek between Ancient Homeric Greek and Modern Greek.

There was no Pope and the religion was centred around Asia Minor (the modern Turkey) and Palestine.

When it spread to the centre of the Roman Empire around the fourth century AD, the tradition of the Pope grew up and the Catholic form developed with its centre in Rome. The original Pope-less form centred itself at Constantinople, the modern Istambul.

I hope this clears up your query.

I just want to say that you must study the books of the bible and its context , i.e. whether the quote is in the Old Testament, BC or the New Testament, AD. Then you will be able to see that some of your so called contradictions are not contradictions after all.

Maybe you should speak to a theologian regarding your study before you print such documentation, that is not fact.

KryssTal Reply: And you need to step back from believing and treat the Bible like any other historical document.

I am a teacher of high school students in the subject of world cultures and world history. I find your site interesting and informative, however, in your introduction you mention as a monothestic religion Bahai, but you don't include it as one of the religions in your group with an historical sketch. I have found Bahai to be the newest of the religions which are spread throughout the world. In fact, investigation shows that it is one of the most wide-spread religions in existence.

Your list at the bottom names Bahai, but indicates it is basically located in the middle east.  This is actually not correct. Because of Muslim persecution, it is the one area of the world where there are the fewest number of Bahais. It would be a terrific service to the searching public if you added Bahai to your list with a narrative of its history. I located several sites for Bahai on the Internet while researching for my classes last year. The primary site on the Internet is

www.bahai.org

In my opinion your site would be greatly upgraded with the addition of this little known, but wide spread religion. It's surprising how the religion has spread and what it has accomplished in its short 150 years of existence. Do you know what they are doing on Mt. Carmel in Israel and how positively that government as well as the government of the city of Haifa regard this religion and their efforts at beautifying that mountain with their structures and gardens. That kind of effort cannot be ignored merely because of its size or lack of public recognition.

KryssTal Reply: Thank you - I will research your points.

Enjoyed reading your comments on the various religions in the world. I come from a christian background; and found the information interesting. It would be interesting to see how we could develop a communication on faith's. I have always been brought up within this environment, so to believe and understand is easy. Whilst I have a christian background through the work I do amongst the Asian community I have had to study to some extent the other faiths. I have found that there is some similarity in that all peoples are deeply searching for something positive to believe in.

Anyway let me know if you wish to carry on a discussion and commuication through this system.

KryssTal Reply: I'm always willing to talk.

Kryss,

I appreciate your attempt to provide information about the world's major religions. I have one comment on your Islam section. For what it's worth, I am not a Muslim.

You (or whoever wrote the section) got the five pillars wrong.

"Defending the faith (with the sword if necessary)" is not one of the five pillars. The other four are right, but the one you omitted is saying the Shahadda -- "There is no God but the one true God, and Mohammad is his messenger."

KryssTal Reply: Thanks for your comments - I suppose I should say "declaring the faith".

Here is another one for your wonderful list. If you are still keeping track.

Matthew 27

5 And throwing down the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed; and he went and hanged himself.
6 But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, "It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since they are blood money."
7 So they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
8 Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.

Acts 1

18 (Now this man bought a field with the reward of his wickedness; and falling headlong he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out.
19 And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the field was called in their language Akel'dama, that is, Field of Blood.)

Greetings,

I just wanted you to know that I have used some of the material found on your webpage under Religions of the World to provide eight 11-year old students at our church here in San Francisco with an overview of world religions.

I really appreciate your unbiased and well-worded descriptions on the world's major religions. It will be a good place to start for today's Sunday school lesson.

Thank you very much for assembling this information.

KryssTal Reply: Glad it was of use.
