History

Newcastle United win the Championship but lose the FA Cup final.

Towards the end of the season, Everton lost a match at Arsenal by 2 - 1. This was a replay of a game previously abandoned because of fog. Everton had been winning 3 - 1. Had they won that game they would have been Champions.

No clubs were relegated because the League was to be expanded to 20 clubs.
