History

Liverpool win a record 9th League Championship. In their final match they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3 - 1 away, pipping Queens Park Rangers by a point and condeming Wolverhampton to relegation. They also win the UEFA Cup, repeating their Championship and European trophy double of 1973.

Southampton win the FA Cup as a Second Division club only three seasons after Sunderland.
