One of the premier spots in the world to view the endangered Manatee is Crystal River, Florida. But remember this; you must meet the Manatee on their terms. You must enter their environment & silently commune with them. They are wild & independent, so do not feed them. You must only let them approach you, do not chase them or molest them. Swimming with Manatee is a snorkel only trip, the bubbles from scuba divers frighten them. For current manatee counts, call 1-352-563-2088, @ U.S. Fish & Wildlife (updated every Tuesday). Local dive shops conduct daily tours, but I recommend you rent a boat, and visit at your leisure. Do it soon, do it now; who knows how long these gentle creatures will continue to dwell among us.
