Click here for a full report on my adventures in Europe.

This is a student bar in Vienna where they were playing some kind of music that was a mixture between punk and rap. Klaus, a guy I met in the Austrian Lake District drove all the way across the country to fix up the apartment for me, but he didn't want to talk to me, really. He was carrying out some kind of formal European hospitality, I guess.

Subletting the apartment were two students, Elizabeth and Julia. I thought I might be interrupting their school work, but they assured me, "We are very lazy students." Around midnight, when I was about to fall asleep, they came up to me and said, "Do you want to go out to get something to drink"

So we wound up staying at this club until dawn. While Elizabeth danced with her boyfriend, Julia and I hunkered in, sitting in one corner of the room while people hurled their beer glasses at the walls.

As we walked home through the streets of Vienna, passing among huge, bright yellow apartment buildings, Elizabeth and her boyfriend disappeared off somewhere, then showed up half an our later at the apartment with a still-hot loaf of Turkish bread.
