Mr. Laing Goes to Washington

4
The Capitol

After the National Archives, we got a cab to the Capitol.  First we waited for Gary to get a wheelchair to help Mother negotiate the long distances, and then we were ready for a tour of the building.

It was as spectacular as we had imagined.  With long lines of people waiting to enter.  And, oddly enough, a person dressed as Jesus standing on the steps with various religious pronouncements on signs all around him.  What was that all about?  We never did find out.

Opposite ends of the building.

And in we go.

The halls were dark and cool; we waited in the "Crypt" below the Rotunda for our tour to begin.
