Restaurants: there are many local restaurants The Jolly Cafe at Biecina (5 minutes by car) has a good restaurant on the first floor which serves excellent homemade fare & the trattoria at Pracando (just up the valley) is famous for its pizzas.
There is a more expensive restaurant with stunning views at Monte a Pescia and others at Montecarlo and Pescia. Local wine and olive oil can be purchased in the surrounding area and there are many other local delicacies.
Pariana is a steep ten minutes walk away (two minutes by car) and has a small shop with (locally famous) bakery and the Jolly Cafe has a larger shop and these are open each day. It helps to have some Italian to shop in the village.
There is a large supermarket at Pescia, about 20 minutes away by car. Pescia also has a market on Saturdays and many other shops and restaurants and a railway station.
There are plenty of banks in the area.
Both house are overseen by a family in the village who are very helpful and clean the houses and wash linen weekly and will sort out any problems you may encounter.
