About the history of Nara!
Nara, where was the first capital of japan, established in 710.
During 74 prosperous years as a capital of ancient japan, Nara was greatly influenced by western culture which reached the city through the silkrood. The unique Tempyo culture was the gradual result. After the capital was moved to Kyoto, Nara continued to be respected as the capital of Buddhism, and was called "Nanto" or Southern capital.
It remained a significant force in Japan culture and tradition for over 1280 years. With Nara Park, the beautiful scenery of Kasuga Okuyama hills, the seven major Nanto Temples and many other old temples and ceremonies, Nara effectively conveys Japanese history to today delighted visitors.
