I am...
"I am that I am," said the Lord God on high. Now my teacher is asking me who am I. That all depends, who am I compared to who? Who am I to God, to my parents, to you?
I'm a sister to three, a daughter to two, A cousin to many, and a poet to you, A granddaughter to four, a mother of none, A nanny to two, and a child to The Son.
A neighbor to several, a master to one, A student to five, just a number to some, A friend to many, and a kind heart to all, To children I'm big, but to God I am small.
So my friend, it's not a fair question, you see. Who am I to my peers, to my friends, or to me? When I look in the mirror, and I see myself, It's not with the same point of view as an elf.
When I look at myself, I see but a girl, A girl who needs love like the rest of the world. I am five foot four, and just average in weight, But my body does not determine my fate.
I am just a seventeen year old Christian, Who really likes to talk, read, write, and listen. I'm a lover of family, music, and friends. I'm so many things that the list never ends.
I may have wavy brown hair, and bright blue eyes, But that doesn't matter to the Maker of Skies. Jesus is Lord, and that's all I need to know, To smile often, to love, to prosper, and grow.
Words can't explain the depths of my soul or mind. I'm a rare individual, one of a kind. "I am that I am." What else is there to say? God said best what's impossible to explain. |
