Lodging In Hijaz during Hajj & Umrah

 

Lodging Information

  • Accommodation is very expensive during Hajj and peak Umrah seasons. It is advisable to make reservations well in advance.

  • There are many hotels and motels but the quality of service varies very greatly. So choose one as per your taste and preferences. Nevertheless, be careful whether you decide to live close or far from the two Haram Sharif. Traffic jams and gridlocks are frequent during Hajj so living near the Haramain should be a priority.

  • Do NOT be misled by the words "Palace" or "Quasr" in the hotel or building names. Some very old and poorly maintained buildings and hotels are still named "XYZ Palace".

  • Hotels with similar names are known to have very DIFFERENT QUALITY of service.

  • Many local residents rent their rooms, apartments, & homes to Hujjaj.

  • Obtain written confirmation from Manager or Owner prior to arriving, especially for the following:

    • Confirmed dates for your stay.

    • Rates in SR and US$'s for your visit.

    • Size of rooms, Number of people sharing each room.

    • Access to kitchen, dining and living space, laundry facilities, toilets and bathrooms.

    • Verbal reservations, guarantees and promises are NOT honored by most in the lodging business. Get a WRITTEN CONTRACT from someone in PROPER authority.

     

  • Usually the Mutawwifs do not assist in finding suitable accommodation. Some may organize housing for their Hujjaj.

  • Hajj tour operators usually organize housing as part of their "ground packages".
