Located south of Galway Bay on the west coast, The Burren is a wild, rocky region. Wide
areas are covered with grey rocks, and in the few cracks where some humus is accumulated,
you will find a unique flora consisting of arctic, alpine and Mediterranean plants.
Some of Oliver Cromwell's officers allegedly said about the Burren: Too few trees to hang someone, too few water to drown someone, too few soil to bury someone! |
