West of Letterkenny, Glenveagh Castle is located on the banks
of river Ovencarrow. It was built in 1870.
Since the castle is part of Glenveagh National Park, you have to pay admission to enter the park plus you need to buy a ticket for the guided tour thru the castle. It's, however, well worth paying the total of IEP 4.-- since the castle and the stories associated to it are really interesting. You can't take your private car to the castle, but there's a shuttle bus service at the park's visitor center. |
