I wanted to update my site, but I wanted to add a few short movies that we took. After much confusion, and struggling I eventually had to start from scratch!! The nice thing is that with this page there is no ads!!

So here is a quick run down of what life is like in Sri Lanka!!

IT'S HARD!!! That is the best way to put it. So many people are struggling, just to get by. The refugees are either staying with family, or in refugee camps. The government is SLOW to organize any kind of long term aid, but to give them the benefit of the doubt, it is a monumental undertaking for a country, that had nothing to begin with, and now needs to home and rebuild the lives of nearly a million people. Not to mention the million poor and homeless they had there before the Tsunami. Right now, the refugees are given $3/week in food stamps, which will not even cover the cost of basic food for a week. There were given $100 in the beginning to rebuild. The non-profit agencies have given them materials and paid them to rebuild small huts for themselves. You can see the wooden cabins in the background during the first movie. We can only hope that the international community will keep a close eye on the distribution of aid money, so that it gets to those in need!! I will continue to update, so check back once in a while!!

And for anyone was not able to send money at the time, remember that the rebuilding will go on for years to come, and we will be there trying to, at the very least, rebuild our community!! Just drop me a line and I'll tell you how you can help!!
