This is the beautiful lagoon that is so much a part of Broadway at the Beach. Here, you can rent paddle boats, take a boat ride, or stick around for laser light shows and fireworks at night. The lagoon also has lots of big fish to feed. It was cloudy and rainy the day I took this picture, but it is truly a beautiful place. |
This is the bridge which connects both sides of Broadway. You can stop and feed the fish on the way. The Ripley's Aquarium is in the background. |
My favorite place to eat here is Johnny Rocket's. It's a 50's theme restaurant with the very best milk shakes and chili fries you ever ate. The wait staff performs for you and the service is excellent. These are my sons in front of the restaurant in 1996. |
Of course, there's always the Hard Rock Cafe. The food here is very good and we got good service, but prices are steep and the wait is often long. Best time to come here is for lunch. You can also just buy merchandise if you prefer. |
Planet Hollywood is another place best visited for lunch. Check out The Munsters costumes while you're there! The wait here wasn't quite as long, but prices and food are comparable to Hard Rock. Also, the service was very good. |
No visit to Broadway at the Beach is complete until you've visited the Ripley's Aquarium. You have sea life above and below and all around you. It houses a million gallons of saltwater and freshwater exhibits and it's a fun family place. The Aquarium won the 1997 Governor's Cup for the state's most visited attraction. |
After you've eaten and shopped and explored, take a little break and play Dragon's Lair miniature golf. This isn't the most challenging course on the Strand, but it's one of the most fun. There's a story to read as you play the course and the dragon pops up and blows fire. This is a night picture of the dragon. |
