Road ConditionsMozambique is at the present moment a massive building site.The country has a very fast and efficient way of upgrading and restoring the infrastructure of the country. The main roads are tarred and some are under construction, you will find the general information below in the listing of roads. Please note that there are mines next to roads, if you have to do your "little" business be careful as mine clearing is in progress. Please be careful at bridges, you will find a step on almost every bridge, so slow down before you fly off the road. Road markings and road signs are a rarity on Mozambican roads, therefor take additional care. Roads Namaacha - Boane - MaputoPerfect condition, completely refurbished, be careful of sharp curves. Please note that there are no street signs at the intersection to the Ressano Garcia - Maputo road, therefore one has to carefully not to stop in the middle of the intersection. Please be careful of pedestrians and careless driving South Africans (!) when approaching Maputo.Ressano Garcia - Boane - MaputoRoad is in good condition. Some potholes after the South African / Mozambican border post. Please be careful of pedestrians and careless driving South Africans (!) when approaching Maputo.Maputo - Xai XaiRoad good condition, please be aware of pedestrians as one is leaving Maputo.Xai Xai - Quissico - MaxixeRoad in good condition, beautiful view onto the lakes of Quissico, after Quissico to Inharrime the road is under construction, at Inharrime please note that next to the bridge at the police control are various mine fields. So DO NOT attempt to go to the lakes which you see.Maxixe - VilankulosRoad is in good conditions, however is deformed in some parts.Vilankulos - InchopeRoad is in good condition until the Save River bridge, after the bridge road is in terrible condition for around 30 kilometers, large potholes and deformed road make the driving quiet different. The road is under construction for almost 80 kilometers and becomes better at around 90 kilometers before Inchope.Inchope - BeiraRoad is in good condition with the occasional pot hole for the first 60 kilometers, becomes badly deformed just after Nhamatanda and is under construction before and after the city of Dondo, please be careful when arriving in Beira as road information signs are non existent.Inchope - Chimoio - ManicaOne of the best roads in Mozambique, perfect condition, road markings and road signs all the way.Bandula - ChangaraGood condition, occasional pot holes and some of the bridges are under construction.Nyamapanda - Tete - ZobueRoad is in good condition, occasional pot holes, about 20 kilometers behind Moatize the road surface stops for 800 meters without any warning!All roads were traveled on in October 1998 with a two
