TOHOKU SHINKANSEN Type 200, white and green bonnet style is now the oldest model in Tohoku and Joetsu Shinkansen. Newer front version of Type 200, similar to Type 100 in Tokaido Shinkansen (now abolished) Type 200 of new color, also seat and facility is improved. Type E2, mainly used for fast 'Hayate' to Hachinohe, maximum speed 275 km/h, and Nagano Shinkansen 'Asama'. Type E1 and E4, double-decked Shinkansen train to meet heavy commuter demand to Tokyo in the morning and evening. Type 400 (left) is 'Tsubasa' for Yamagata Shinkansen, and type E3 (right) is 'Komachi' for Akita Shinkansen. Both type goes direct from Shinkansen to conventional railway, and car size is smaller than other types, called 'Mini Shinkansen'. BACK HOME
