The townhouse called San Rocchino is located at the end of a narrow stone alley, in the downtown area of Barga, within walking distance to shopping, transportation and restaurants. While close to the commercial center, it is in a secluded area next to the park. This house is now a landmark, as featured in a painting that the Italian painter Mino Maccari (1898-1989) executed while vacationing in Barga.
The house has been recently renovated and carefully furnished in Tuscan style. The living quarters are on the second floor of the building, which is reached via a marble staircase, and are composed of a living room, a modern kitchen complete with washing machine, two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with two, (eventually three ) single beds, and a newly renovated bathroom. The house features an optional garage, a terrace that overlooks the stone bridge joining the old and the new part of town, and a small wooded area which affords a private entrance to the park. It is fully equipped for a comfortable stay.
From the front windows it is possible to see the park, with several tall trees, and the old part of town (Castello) dominated by the medieval Duomo. There is a view of the Apuan Alps to the West while the Appenines loom off to the East. The side window gives on the baroque church of San Rocco on the square of the same name.
