CRUISE-DAY 6

This is the only estate type home I saw on the Nile cruise. It must be a sugar cane plantation.

A washing party. Everyone waved a yelled greetings to us all along the Nile. Very nice friendly people.

The only set of locks we encountered on the cruise.

These are some of the kids that watched our ship go through the locks. They would ask for things like pens, etc, and they were pretty happy when I had some to give them.

This soldier was pretty grumpy. He looked to be in his sixties, and chased the kids away who weren't doing anything to cause trouble. This kid was selling newspapers to someone on the ship and was chased away by him with a stick. We gave him a hard time (from our room window, which was at the same height as he was) by bugging him to pose for a photo with his machinegun. He wasn't too impressed, but Grant and I had fun. But really, I think he liked the attention.
