HORUS TEMPLE AT EDFU

This is the main court of the temple. I thought it was funny that this temple was dedicated to a falcon god, yet in modern times, they put up a screen to keep birds out.

...and of course the usual heavy security wherever tourists are. It must be an awful boring job just standing around all day.

More examples of the color that survived through the years.

I thought this made an interesting photo, with the carved wings under the bird.

I never knew these were here...I just happened to stumble upon them. There are small cavernous corridors that go around the temple hidden inside the outer walls. Each with hidden rooms at the end of them. The painting here survived amazingly and the hieroglyphs that covered the walls were just as beautiful. It's completley dark in these halls and it was a good thing I had a flashlight with me. This is a photo of the ceiling of one of the corridors.
