There are dozens of these mastabas next to Khufu's pyramid. They were generally built for the people who worked under the pharoah Khufu, such as mayors, temple directors, engineers who built his pyramid, etc.

Here is one that was in fairly good shape or was rebuilt in the last hundred years. It doesn't take long for the sands of the Sahara to swallow it up again.
