Vasco  Nuņez de Balboa free to continue without Enciso and Nicuesa decides to go visit the neighbor lands, get to the dominions of Careta, a hostil indian chief  at the begining and great colaborator of Balboa  after all.  Balboa met Anayansi, daughter of the indian Cacique.  Anayansi became his inseparable companionship and continue to the dominions of Ponca and then to lands of Comagre, son of Panquiaco and then is when Balboa follows the indians directions to discover  the Mar del Sur, what we know as Pacific Ocean.  Finally Balboa discover the Pacific Ocean on September 25th of 1513.
Lot of incidents came after this discovery and soon spanish started to get all the gold and riches of the Isthmus and Pedrarias Davila arrives to Santa Maria la Antigua del Darien as the Gobernor of Castilla de Oro.
On 1515 Pedrarias found the Acla population.  Acla means human bones.
January 1519 Gaspar de Espinoza order the decapitation of Vasco Nuņez de Balboa and four of his friends at Acla,
six months later, August 15th of 1519  the Panama La Vieja was founded.
Panama means plenty of trees, plenty of butterflies, plenty of fishes.
The Spanish Crown decide to elevate Panama La Vieja to the category of City on September 15th of 1521.
Panama began to be the point of departure of all the expeditions and the point of collection of all the gold  from the Incas to the route of Spain.
But this brought some serious difficulties to the Isthmus when the Colonial times start, the seas became unsecured since the Corsairs and Pirates of France and England began to steal and burn all the spanish colonies.  The first visit to the Isthmus of Corsairs was in July 9th of 1572 by the English Francis Drake he stoled a big amount of gold in may of 1573, but the one that made the biggest destruction was Pirate Henry Morgan who  stoled the gold, and he also destroyed Panama La Vieja, wich was the most important colony for the SpanishCrown at the time.
But the one that gave the order to burn the city was  Juan Perez de Guzman, the Gobernor at the time based on the idea that this way the britains would not take the munitions deposit.  Panama La Vieja was burnt on  1671.
