Becky Gives Piano Lessons
Recently Becky has started teaching piano lessons at the
Bible School. She is currently working with three women from two of our
city churches. People have often asked us when we would begin teaching
music. Our answer has been, "Wait until we've learned Dutch."
There has been a lot of interest over the last four years, and now we're
able to start. |
One of the problems that we faced was
keyboards. Where could we get keyboards that we could carry with us to
the Bible School? The Hayward Wesleyan Church wrote to
us, one day, and asked if there was anything that we needed. Becky
quickly e-mailed back that we would like to buy some keyboards. The
church sent a generous donation that paid for them. Now we have
keyboards, cases, and books! |
Becky teaches three students:
Sisters Hortence, Saskia, and Audrey.

People
in Suriname are quite musically talented. Someone has said that
"music is the language of Suriname." I think that they were
right. The musicians in our churches play by ear. They recognize that
they need more training, and some of them would like to learn to read
music. Becky has started trying to meet this need. In the
future, we hope to begin a choir. This would allow us to work with a
larger group of people, where we could give general vocal training. A
lot of interest has been expressed in this. But for now,
Becky has made a start. Thanks to our brothers and sisters in Wisconsin,
who have stood by us. Because of their generosity, we're able to offer
piano lessons through the Bible School.
