Journal Miami

Miami was our first unknown of the trip, meaning we had never been there and had no idea what to expect of our accomodations.  I had spent several days on the internet looking for well located and reasonably priced hotels for Miami and Key West but pictures wern't available, so I was a little worried.  We pulled into Miami and cruised straight to South Beach, the big spot in that city.  You all may know it from movies such as "The Birdcage."   We pulled up to our hotel, which was located a block from the beach and right in the middle of everything, only to realize it had about 10 rooms, a man who acted as the bartender/concierge/receptionist/bellhop/manager/owener/maid.  The place was very beachy, everything was lime green and there was sand everywhere.  The room was antique to say the least, but still somewhat comfortable.  I was not to confident with the locks conidering all the stuff we had with us. We couldn't complain though,  we were a stones throw away from all the hotest spots on South Beach and with no exaggeration the most beautiful women in the world. The parking was way cheap to.  4$ for 24 hours, not bad. It was like a Versace/\Calvin Klien model's convention, truly amazing.  The water out ther was crystal clear, absolutly beautiful.  We saw some topless women on the beach but not as many as expected.  There was also this crazy rollerbladder guy who we saw a hundred times a day going up and down the middle of the street wavin his arms and basically trippin out on some drugs.  He would just shake and spin and twist out of control through traffic, i think he was a little nutty, entertaining though.  We spent the first night walkin up and down the beach stoppin in to all the hotspots for a drink.  We went to a place called the Clevelander which had a huge aquarium with baby Leapord sharks in it.  I had a picture up but i erased it on accident (it should be back up soon).  We met a beautiful yet bitter bartender that only opened up to us after a friend of hers, some designer we had been talkin to, introduced us.  From there we headed to the Tropical Isle, the latin hot spot where the latin music is load and the women wear leapord and dance on the bar in a very suductive mannor.  Highly entertaining to say the least.  Drinks were expensive  though so we headed out after one apiece.  We then anded up at the now famous Wet Willies, which was one of the more popular bar/clubs in South Beach.   If you asked Joey though, he would disagree because it is here that some grumpy bartender jacked his "sweatshirt". The actual story is hallarious but you have to write me and ask for it because it has been denied access on the public web page.  Anyway, after that we headed home for the night and attempted to order a pizza to our room.  It had been about an hour and a half and it still wasn't there and Joe was about to eat the pillows so we called and they said they came but no one was there at the hotel to let them in.  I guess this sort of thing happens when one man is running every position in the hotel!  JOe was pretty pissed but the pizza guy came back and all was well.  The next night we headed out to Coconut Grove, the other hot spot of Miami where we chilled at Fat Tuesday's and talked to some cool birds for awhile, as pictured.  Those things were amazing, they could do flips, swing by their beak, hang on your nose, needless to say they kept us entertained.  Then we went to Senor Frogs for dinner and a drink or to, a lot more expensive then I remembered it from TJ.  The waitress gave us a free shot before we left and we headed out.  We walked around that part of town for awhile enjoying all the sights, it was like fasion valley on crack, improve comedy, lots of bars and the best shops around.  We took it easy and got home pretty early to get ready for Key West...
