A waterside garden for eastern Nebraska

The cottage sits on ground between the arms of the horseshoe.  The area is in a flood plain which prohibits a lot of standard (and here undesired) construction development. 

A public use for this property seems appropriate.  This is certainly desirable if used in moderation by those who will most appreciate and nurture it.

Photos were taken some years ago.  Currently the house and property require rejuvenation and repairs. 

Some method to deepen the lake is needed.  Water supplied by fountain jets (connected to a good well system) might make it decent for catch-and-release fishing.  Parts of the tree-covered grounds (within the horseshoe) could make lush gardens for plants which like partial sun and shade.
