Bill Russell war das Flaggschiff der Boston Celtics Dynastie der 1960er. Ein unbarmherziger Blocker, der die Art zu verteidigen revolutionierte. Ein fünfmaliger MVP und zwölfmaliger All-Star, der bewegliche Center schnappte sich 21.620 Rebounds, durchschnittlich 22.5 pro Spiel (!), und war viermal bester Rebounder der Liga. Er sammelte in einem Spiel 51 Rebounds und in zwei weiteren 49. In 12 aufeinanderfolgenden Saison erzielte er mehr als 1000 Rebounds !

All diese persönlichen Rekorde hatte er wirklich verdient, aber sie waren nur Produkte seiner Philosophie von Mannschaftssport.
