*´ë¿Ü°ü°è Á¤Ã¥ µ¿Çâ 1)Priority goals for the foreign policy of Romania The main goals of the foreign policy of Romania are: -garanteeing the national security by integrating the country into security or collective defence structures and developing peaceful relations, particularly with neighbouring states. -consolidating the democratic mechanisms and facilitating the country's access to prosperity by its integrations into the community structures of developed countries both at political and economic level. -strengthening relations with the Romanians outside the borders and supporting them in preserving their ethnic, cultural, linguistic and religious identity. -achieving the national ideal by ensuring conditions for the retrieval of all Romanians from the historical territories within a united Europe. -asserting the Romanian spirituality as well as promoting a truthful and positive image of Romanian throughout the world. 2)The continuity of the strategic orientation of the foreign policy The government shall view the orientation of the country towards the West as an essential feature of our national destiny. In this respect, the European and Euro-Atlantic integration represents the sole alternative of foreign policy for Romania. The government shall act so that: -Romania fulfills all the conditions so as to be among the first countries admitted into NATO, a process estimated to be launched in 1999.
-Romania fulfills all the conditions for accession to the European Union around the year 2000. Along this background, the Government is aware of the fact that the European and Euro-Atlantic integration process depends, besides on the progress and reforms achieved domestically, on the improvement and, as the case may be,on the normalization of relations with its neighbours, also on the participation in the settlement of likely regional disputes so that Romania may prove to be not only a security beneficiary but also a security provider, not only eager to earn rights, but also able to take upon itself international commitments. |
