In 1958, when the hotel Anesis started it's journey, Agios Ioannis of Pilion had no sign of electricity or telephone, nor was there asphalt on the streets, so the access to our village was somehow adventurous.
Finally arriving at his destination the heroic traveller, after getting rid of the dust and dirt, entered the shade of our vine leaf covered terrace, where he was invited to taste our sweet fruits and a glass or two of our home made tsipouro and exchanging the news.
Sitting on the terrace and watching the Aegean sea, which was -as always- playing its game with the sand and the stones at the strand, the visitor could also have a look at the different fisher boats and 'kaikia' laying at the beach, which then were plenty, as they were used for most of the transfers from one point to the other.
The then nine rooms offered running water and petrol lamps. Toilettes and two bathrooms were joint facilities, and warm water came from a boiler, heated by fire.
With this circumstances we learnt to offer our hospitality and it may seem to be unbelievable, but got customers from all over the world, many of them having become friends over the years. Slowly, slowly 'civilization' reached Anesis and our village. Access to our village became easier every year, the fisher boats are now laying in a small harbour and are used mostly for fishing. In 1989 we reconstructed our hotel by restoring the old part and adding a new section, keeping the characteristic terrace, and being able now to offer all the comforts, somebody can ask for nowadays.
