Aran Islands | ||||||||||
I don't have any pics for the Aran Islands yet, but should have some soon so hopefully I'll get them up here soon. Dan and I visited the largest of the three Aran Islands, Inishmoor. I was stuck in a "sick of living out of a bag" phase this day and so my trip around the island wasn't exactly enjoyed. Shame really because the island itself is beautiful, totally rural, with old stone walls circling the roads and damn near anything thats not moving....never seen so many stone walls in my life!. We hired bikes and rode around the island checking out the old fort and, well, that was about it really, and by the end of the headed back to a night on an island that I wanted to get off, all I could think about was how much my butt was hurting from riding the bike all day. As it turns out, the night was better than I expected. We went to one of the three local pubs and got a roun in, then as it started to fill up we (well, Dan really) got chatting to a group of girls who were also visiting that day. We ended up going back to where they were staying that night and having a few more drinks. I got left on my own chatting to some of the girls while Dan went off in search of "extra curricular activities" with one of the girls. Eventually the night wound up and I have to say that although I had fun that night I was looking forward to the trip back to the mainland. After the Aran Islands we made out way towards Cork... |
