Donegal
Well Donegal was another fly-by visit, a fun one, but fast. Dan and I arrived and decided to find a place to stay first off and found a wee hostel about 10 mins walk from the town centre. After ditching our stuff we decided to head into town. But before we had made it out the door Dan had befriended 3 American girls and invited them along.....hooray said I.
Funny how sarcasm just doesn't come across on these things....
Anyway we went out and were headed for our first pub when we bumped into 2 more American girls, Kristin and Mo. Apparently there was some bizarre link between the two groups of girls, although it was totally over my head.....my mind was firmly fixed on something else, something starting with G and ending with uiness!!!!!

Anyway, Dan, me, and the 3 American girls headed off to the pub and Kristin and Mo went on their way. We finally made it to a pub called the Star Bar and found ourselves a pozzie and then let the Guiness roll in! It didn't take long to realise that I had less than nothing in common with these girls and started concentrating on Guiness consumption more than conversation. Dan on the other hand had delved into a political conversation with one of the girls......a topic that I found in the ensuing weeks was a personal fav of Dans.

After a lot of mundane conversation, we saw Kristin and Mo waltz in (not literally of course...the waltzing came later!). Anyway, they joined us and much to my joy found the existing conversation as boring as I did and we were soon back onto more familiar territory of drinking shots and talking bullshit.....it grew into a great night! Its a pity it was our only one there.

The next day, Dan and I stuck to a plan that we came up with the night before (around 1am-ish if I remember correctly) and decided that we would hike to the next town....sounds simple enough, but 4.5 hours later I was not so keen on the idea and then finally I saw light at the end of the tunnel . . . . a sign . . . . "Welcome to BallyShannon"
