A slow morning was just what we needed after all that walking over the last couple of days, I've never been so happy to be sitting on a bus in my life... As the bus pulled into Enniskillen, I already knew I would like this town, it had the same vibe as Edinburgh. It was just instantly likeable, it was small but extremely scenic and we ended up staying in possibly the most scenic place possible. It was a hostel call the Lakeside Canoe Centre and it was situated on a tiny island in the middle of the river Erne that runs directly through the middle of town....fantastic. To get to and from the island you need to take a short water taxi ride, there is absolutely no other way to get to the island, Once on the Island you get a great view of Enniskillen Castle which lays just on the other bank of the river. This was the kinda town that inspired people to go travelling in the first place! |

Once again though it seems that we are the only people staying at the hostel, so we pretty much hung out with the two caretakers (Noel and Jason) for the first evening. They were good guys, well Jas was a bit mad, but not in a bad way and they seemed happy to have us there otherwise they would only have themselves and Pepper (the dog) to talk to. After settling in we had a quick squizz at Enniskillen castle and made placs to hire a car the next day and take a drive around the area. Finally I got to get behind the wheel again!! Watch out !!! |
