Our next stop was a lookout looking over Upper Lough Erne and then it was off to grab some breakfast in a small pub in Derrygonnelly. After breakfast we headed to Caldwell Castle, an amzing caslte that is now completely overgrown (see the pic at the bottom of the page). Now you're not supposed to go inside, but seeing as there was no-one around, my curiosity got the better of me and I had to explore. The pic below is taken inside the castle, it was actually huge on the inside, will loads of big rooms and underground cellers and all sorts. |

By this stage we still had 3/4 a tank in the car and it was only 2pm so having driven around the lough, we decided to drive into the next county (County Tyrone) and see what Omagh had to offer. The answer to that was bugger all except a few shops and too many people for its size. Although we did get another lesson in Irish logic when we found the Tourist info centre with a sign out side it proclaiming that the tourist infor centre was actually on the other side of the road....its no wonder the Irish have so many jokes pointed at them! So we left Omagh and drove out to Sligo to have a pint and check our emails and after that and a VERY full day of driving we crusied back to Enniskillen and a lovely pizza dinner. |
