FEELING GO - CHRISTMAS CHEERS & SYDNEY NEW YEARS

(REMEMBER: IF YOU'RE MENTIONED BY NAME ITS COS I LOVE YOU DEARLY. IF YOU'RE NOT, ITS ONLY TO PROTECT MYSELF IN THE LIBEL COURT)

Did you know that it is impossible to get to the Snowy Mountains from Melbourne?
Or at least thats the way its seemed to me. I had to ditch my plans for some time in the mountains and head directly back to Sydney, stopping briefly for a boozy bop at POPSCENE, the people's nightclub.

POPSCENE

BACK IN BYRON
After sleepless nights on a smelly uncomfortablr bus, catching the train back to Byron Bay was a godsend. I spent the whole twelve hours creased in laughter thanks to the antics of Carla, a 14 year old brummie girl who was sat next to me. Arriving in Byron once again I checked into the same hostel I had stayed in before. On entering my room my friendly hello was greeted by a stoney silence, and in German at that. One of them took the trouble to point at an empty bunk before turning back to join his friends who were gathered round a laptop listening to MP3's of Elton John's "Circle Of Life", the irony of which considering a conversation the two nights before was overwhelming.

I also had one of the best conversations of my trip so far with a Cockatoo called Pepe. Christmas Day was spent on the beach drinking champagne, eating croissants, playing volleyball and generally enjoying a Christmas with a great bunch of people with nothing more to distract us than each other. There was however one point where I almost missed the traditional Christmas Eve stomp round Penistone. Almost...

SYDNEY
The week in Lennox flew by and soon it was time to get on another bus (ARRGGHHH!!!) back down to Sydney for New Year. New Years Eve was a big night at a do down by the Harbour Bridge, perfectly located for taking in the breathtaking fireworks at midnight. I finally called it a day about 6:30am and I strolled back over the Harbour Bridge as the faint pink glow of the morning sun tried to force its way through the grey clouds to the east. Best bit of the night by far...
