FEELING GO - THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD

(REMEMBER: IF YOU'RE MENTIONED BY NAME ITS COS I LOVE YOU DEARLY. IF YOU'RE NOT, ITS ONLY TO PROTECT MYSELF IN THE LIBEL COURT)

A pleasant surprise awaited me as I boarded my Great Ocean Road bus in Adelaide, in the shape of a couple of mates from Sydney who I had not seen for a couple of months. It was just aswell that they were on the bus, else it would have been a very dull journey indeed. I also met someone on the bus, and though I wouldn't realise it for about two weeks, but I had taken a photo of her standing next to a friend up in Alice Springs. The comedy of coincidence continues.

DAY ONE

This was a big driving day. Didn't really see much of note, except the prawn. The evening was a bit of a treat. We stayed in a converted jail cell. Fletcher!!!

DAY TWO

We meandered through the Grampian Mountains. They were extremely pretty and in the fog and rain were reminiscent of Wales.

Me and Katie caught off guard at The Balconies, Grampian Mountains, VIC.

DAY THREE

Drove along the Great Ocean Road proper this time. It was alright, but like so much in Australia the use of the word 'Great' was taking liberties a bit. Make your own mind up from the photos.

TOP: Giant Prawn (or is it a crawfish?), Kingston.
Middle: Carly and a wallaby, Grampians.
BOTTOM: A typical scene along the Great Ocean Road.

DAY FOUR

Finally saw a koala. Damn, and I was doing so well. I seethed in the overcast weather all the way into Melbourne, and my second visit to the city.

"... And I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for this pesky koala."

I had a good week in Melbourne, and met some cool cats at the same time. I managed to squeeze in a visit to Ramsay St.

Everybody needs good Neighbours.

I also tried to sort out my New Zealand stage of my journey, but with problems at immigration I was forced to depart early and head for Sydney for a final farewell with my new mates. Having come full circle in The Big Country, I bid Australia farewell and set my sights on a month in the Land Of The Long White Cloud - NEW ZEALAND!
