FEELING GO - NORTH ISLAND
(REMEMBER: IF YOU'RE MENTIONED BY NAME ITS COS I LOVE YOU DEARLY. IF YOU'RE NOT, ITS ONLY TO PROTECT MYSELF IN THE LIBEL COURT)
All the experiences of the South Island had left me little scope for seeing much of the North Island, and I only managed a few days there before having to fly back to Australia. I visited Napier, a town in the style of 1930's Art Decor, Rotorura and its hot springs where I bumped into Nik, another friend from my University days. I spent a couple of days in Mount Manganui before heading to Auckland for one last night out in NZ. I ended up at the University bar with Claire and Joe (friends from the South Island) and Joe's inlaws, teaching a sour faced gang of Maori girls how to do the funky chicken. Probably best that I left the country after all. But what a place, I'd be back to New Zealand like a shot.
Me and Nik at the Rotarura hotpools.
A bubbling steaming hotpool.
