Front light, Cateye Halogen. Here's Rebecca's verdict on how it performed.
Used:
Twice
Performance:
Despite being carried for three months in a pannier pocket, the light never got switched on acidentally. This means that unlike with other designs I have tried I didn't need to store it separate to the batteries and that it was as bright at the beginning ro the trip as at the end.
The clip attaches to the front fork and you can use it either side - useful if you go abroad. And although I rattled over rutted roads, cobbles and tracks that destroyed my first back wheel, the clip never worked loose...
However, I am very unhappy only having a light on one side... Traffic approaching from the other direction can't see you. Also you couldn't put the light in that position if you have front panniers. Rob got round this and the 'blind spot' problem very effectively by mounting his on the U bar of the Limpet panniers.
Verdict:
A neat, sturdy, lightweight design that uses batteries of a size commonly available.
