LAKES DISTRICT.
While the lakes and dams of Tasmania each have a beauty of their own, I think they are better known for Trout Fishing. Most of them are set in the Central Highlands and some are man-made......constructed by the Hydro Electric Commission, to provide water for the generation of our power.
Bronte Lagoon. The lagoon is a very popular fishing area and is reserved for artificial lures only. It is easily accessed from the Lyell Highway.
Bradys Lake. This is very close to Bronte Lagoon and is another lake reserved for artificial lures.
Craigbourne Dam.
Little Pine Lagoon. Fly fishing only.
Lake Burbury.
Meadowbanks Dam
Lake Gordon. A section of the retaining wall can be seen.
Two aspects of Lake St.Clair.
Lake Peddar.
Twisted Lakes
Great Lake.
Should you visit Tasmania and are going to enjoy our fishing, a booklet is produced by Inland Fisheries and is available from the Inland Fisheries. tackle shops and post offices. The booklet gives information on when and which lakes are open, bag limits, licence fees, fish and anything else you need to know.
