*** Nutty Putty caves ***
nutty putty cave info.
directions:
------- Paved Road -----------
-- I-15 south to Santaquin, take exit 248 and head WEST
-- travel approximately 11 miles WEST
-- through Santaquin, Goshen, Elberta, etc ...
-- Turn right and head NORTH on SR-48?, travel exactly 7 miles
(you will now be on the WEST side of Utah lake, heading NORTH)
------- Gravel Road -----------
-- Turn left on Gravel road (just after mile marker 7)
travel about 5 miles WEST on gravel road
-- when you come to a fork in the road, take it
-- (no, seriously, take the right one,
this will be the one on the north side)
------- Dirt Road -----------
This road veers NORTH and is a REAL nasty one. Potholes in the road all over the place.
Probably some are about 12" deep or MORE. You really need a 4x4 vehicle or pickup or
something with high clearance. If you're a real spelunking fanatic, you could take
your car, but it may get a roughed up a bit, so beware.
This road is about 2 - 2 1/2 miles long (30 minutes to walk it).
The cave is at the top of a hill.
It's hard to find, just a hole in the ground and it's not marked.
It's towards the NORTH - center part of the hill. Look carefully, it's possible
to miss it. The hole is probably about 6 feet or so in diameter and goes down
for about 15 feet or so. Then, comes the fun part ...
------ THE CAVE ENTRANCE ----------
This has a low ceiling, probably only about 1 1/2 to 2 FEET high.
If you can FIT through the entrance you're home free. You have to crawl
on your stomach for about 15 feet or so, then you enter into a room where
you can stand up inside. For the rest, refer to the map.
------ Have Fun!!! ----------
