The Crowden School, 1993-1995

I attended The Crowden School, in Berkeley, CA, for two years, starting there in the 7th grade. The unique curriculum at TCS strives to find a balance between music studies and performance, and academic excellence. All students play at least one instrument, and aside from taking regular academic classes, participate in instrument technique classes, choir, and various chamber music and orchestral ensembles. As a student at The Crowden School, I grew passionate about chamber music, and improved my cello and piano technique. It was at Crowden that I first got involved with singing, playing the harpsichord, and studying music history and theory. Crowden provided me with a strong academic education, balanced with a supportive and impressive music program which fostered my love of chamber music and performance, and launched me into the music world.

Lick-Wilmerding High School, 1995-1999

For high school, I decided to pursue my interests in architecture at a private technical arts-focused high school in San Francisco. While there, I continued my balanced education in academics and music, by participating in various music ensembles in and out of school, and taking classes such as AP Music Theory.

The Gallatin School at New York University, 1999-present

I have recently completed my second year at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where I am designing my own major. The flexibility of this school is allowing me to pursue my music interests while challenging myself academically at the same time. As of now, my primary areas of interest are community-building and social change through music and the arts. I am taking several interdisciplinary courses in an attempt to connect these subjects, while participating in many music ensembles through school.
