Hello, welcome to my home page. My name is Dan Tholen and you may be wondering what Fil/Am means. In my case it stands for Filipina + American. The story behind a guy like me having a page like this is quite long and it crosses oceans, mountains, and cultural barriers. Most of you who are looking at my page are involved in searching for True Love and finding their soul mate even though the fates have placed you a world apart without knowing if you will ever take the chance and brave the risk to venture out and find each other.

Although many people do not understand our journey for
love, I still like to tell my story of how I met my wife through writing
letters. It all started back in April 1997 when I was stuck at home for two months due to an injury. I decided one day, while trying to overcome my boredom, that I would join a pen pal club. I began writing to people all over Asia and shortly recieved dozens upon dozens of letters in my mailbox. Thus my boredom ended and I was seated at my computer for the rest of my recovery. In June 1997 I recieved my first letter from Liza and over time we built a relationship that I never thought could happen through letter writing. I soon worked up
the courage (and the money) to go over to her country and see her in person.
In May 1998 I stepped off of the plane in Davao, Philippines to find the most beautiful woman I have ever seen waiting for me. I can tell you all that the
first glance, the first touch, the first hello left me standing there with NO
doubts about spending my life with this Filipina angel. After reading and writing a years
worth of letters and along with all the phone calls, I have never known anyone as completely
as I got to know Liza. The biggest and best part that came from writing letters is that I know her for who she is! Not what she looks like or what she can do for me but for the wonderful person that she is. After we have spent so much time getting to know each other (believe me, when all you can do is write to each other you get to know a person well) we got married in Nabunturan, Philippines on June 15th, 1998 during my 4 week visit there. Liza and I are now together after waiting
for 8 months we were finally reunited on March 5th 1999. The process for her to get her immigrant visa was long and I would love
to explain the process that we went through but I think you would
learn a lot more by visiting The
official home page of Jeff Hollis . This gentleman did the same thing that I did, only he did it first, and when it comes time to
dealing with our government it is obvious that Jeff has kept the best journal that I have seen. If you would like to see another site with pictures
of Liza and I as well as others that have done this then go here
or click on "Mag Anak Photos" below.
