With the help of my wife, who is from Ozamiz City in The Philippines, we will try to present a picture of the people, places and hospitality of this tropical island country.
My wife was born in the town of Molave, in the southern island of Mindanao. She grew up there, went to school, and then attended college in the city of Ozamiz, also on Mindanao.
During this time, while staying in a girls boarding house, she was introduced to Jesus(Yahshua) by the pastor of a local church and began to attend that church, The Salvation and Praise Fellowship Church in Ozamiz City, also known as "Happy Church". At that time Happy Church was new and just beginning to grow under the leadership of Pastor Elvie Go. My wife, Tonia, became involved in the with the church helping with the prison ministry, where she remained for thirteen years. Those years were spent at the residence of Pastor Elvie Go, who had opened the use of the house to all in who were in service to the church. This house also gives refuge to many homeless children and others who are in need. The house was called "Happy House", and is where I have stayed on my visits to The Philippines. They are very busy there, receiving visitors from many countries, and every night of the week there are various kinds of church activities. I am very impressed by the devotion and hospitality of the people at Happy House. Veding always had dinner ready on time, and always delicious.
