Well, as usual, projects and fixes took longer than expected, so we're a bit late for the start of our regatta race to Cabo San Lucas - about 24hrs.

Better to have things fixed and running well while we're here with all the wonderful resources of the San Diego marina-world. Need something spot welded? no problem - done in 1/2 hour. need a part? no problem, we'll find it for you cheap in our junk pile.

All in all we've been frustrated by the numerous jobs to be done, but amazed at how well it's all gone - well, except for that unfortunate incident where we dropped our starboard rudder down to the bottom...Most amazing, all this work got done at far less cost than we ever imagined...

Got our self-steering, solar panels, fixed engines, repaired propellor shaft, a bigger downwind chute, and we're off.

next stop(s) Baja!

Cruisin' Matzkes Jill, Karl, Ben and Cam

p.s. it's going to be a few weeks before the sailmail (HF radio based email) is working...fortunately, we've been able to connect through Karl's sun accounts and various web access resources. So keep the notes coming - we love them - but responses may be slow until Karl gets back to the states in about 2 weeks.
