May, 1964: I was gold prospecting with a dude I met in Guatemala, we were hitchhiking into San Salvador, and we met an old man who was hitchhiking out of San Salvador. We stopped to talk, and when we told Old Boy what we were doing, he was all enthusiastic. He said he'd been traveling for 25 years, as far south as Buenos Aires and as far north as New York.

I watched Old Boy walk away. All he had was a little valise and a ukulele in a case. I decided I wanted more to show for 25 years than a ukulele and a valise. The next day, I was making plans to return to the US and was in college the following September.

May, 1971: I was aboard the Mondcivitano, a 48' Ketch. We sailed from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West to Havana, Cuba, to Key West to Ft. Lauderdale. I was aboard Mondcivitano for a month and decided that was wassup! I wanted to live on a sailboat, where I could travel every day and be at home every day.

May, 1996: I went to Florida and bought CyberKnot.

Blow by Blow, my maiden voyage

Ft. Myers to Ft, Pierce

Naked Basin is about the Fort Myers Yacht Basin, where I docked for two years, and I was so very happy with the people I met and experiences I had. Unfortunately, Fort Myers is on the Gulf of Mexico, and I was destined for the ocean. I left because it was time to leave. I learned so much there from the transients who passed through on their way to foreign ports. One sailor cautioned me, "Don't get too attached to a marina." No way, Home! 1
