Help, I need to write a report!!



To write a report or assignment for college is not as bad as it sounds.

You normally have lots of time to do it, and if you don't drink until the
early hours, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Here are a few tips to help you through it:

  • don't start in the last week you have got for the work
  • set some time aside, don't do it "in between"
  • get the literature as soon as possible, otherwise it will be gone
  • get organised

    When you start writing on your assignment, make sure you know what you are
    doing. It is no fun to realise that you are writing about something wrong
    when you already spent two days on it.

  • read the tasks
  • read the tasks again
  • and again, this time make notes if you don't understand everything
  • if you don't understand everything, this is the time to ask!!
  • set up a structure for the assignment, this will help you not to waffle
  • avoid talking too much about theories, the application of them is what counts
  • keep it short
  • don't forget the "Reference and Bibliography" section

    when you have finished your text:
  • do a spellcheck
  • and again
  • print it off and put it aside for at least a day
  • read it again, does it really make sense?
  • amend it and print is off again
  • remember to attach a cover sheet

    Remember, if you need help, get it in time.
    Everybody is happy to help, if you come early enough.
